Dallas was born and raised on the island of Maui, Hawaii. His mother was a small business owner dabbling in fashion. Both his father and step-father are and have been entrepreneurs, business owners, real estate agents, brokers, and developers, and both have grown to be among the most prominent in their field in Hawaii. It is through his family that he developed his strong entreprenurial spirit.
Dallas earned his undergraduate degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from the University of Hawaii, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Following his undergraduate education, he spent two years in the real estate and life insurance industries before obtaining his law degree at the Pepperdine University School of Law, where he earned certificates in the internationally top-ranked Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and the Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law.
Prior to co-founding Verhagen | Bennett LLP, he spent two years working with a prominent insurance defense law firm specializing in business and employment litigation, and later went on to work for a law firm in the South Bay that offered transactional and litigation services to entrepreneurs, startups, and small and large businesses helping clients start up and expand their businesses, establish trademarks, draft contracts, and generally assisting those clients in many of the other legal issues that small businesses encounter on a daily basis.
Dallas's law practice is focused on business and employment transactions. He has handled a range of business and corporate matters, including business formations, secured and unsecured loan transactions, asset purchases and sales, shareholder agreements and ownership transfers, initial public offerings, and more. He has also advised businesses and executives on compliance with labor laws, as well as employee compensation matters, including employee stock options, phantom stock programs, restricted stock programs and other equity and equity-linked compensation programs.
